„NUDE” special tour with Liis Karu: self-portraits of mysterious landscapes

4th of December 18.00

Liis Karu

Photographer Liis Karu, whose art display "Lilli Süda" enchants visitors on the first floor of Fotografiska, will lead a special tour as part of the "NUDE" exhibition, delving into the photo-poetic paths of her own work.

The tour begins in front of the display in Fotografiska's café, where Liis Karu uses her artworks to explore questions such as how to perceive and interpret oneself through self-portraiture, how photographing one’s body in natural landscapes reveals inner landscapes, and what it all conveys. The tour then moves to the "NUDE" exhibition hall, where the self-portraits of this showcase are further explored. Together with Liis, we’ll wander through the intimate landscapes of photographic artists and discover personal worlds through the unique visual language of each creator. Join us to experience the deeply personal realm of self-portraits, venturing onto inspiring artistic trails!

Autumn began with a powerful opening at Fotografiska—on September 13, the "NUDE" exhibition debuted, featuring works by 32 female artists exploring the concept of the naked body. Among them are Estonian artists Cloe Jancis and Marlen Kärema. Through diverse creative approaches, the exhibition moves beyond traditional depictions of the naked body, presenting it in all its shameless honesty and splendor, with a contemporary freshness and freedom from constraints, all through the lens of a woman’s gaze. The result is an environment where conventional roles no longer apply, habitual perspectives shift, and power hierarchies are overturned.
