Exhibition „NUDE” opening: artist talk & performance
12th of September 19
Fotografiska's fall kicks off with a powerful start
The fall season at Fotografiska begins with a striking opening exhibition, "NUDE," featuring the work of 32 female artists who explore the concept of the naked body. Through various creative approaches, the exhibition breaks away from traditional depictions of the nude, presenting the body in its shameless honesty, with a contemporary freshness and freedom from constraints—all through the female gaze.
The result is an environment where conventional roles no longer apply, habitual perspectives are shifted, and power hierarchies are overturned. Among the featured artists are Estonian creators Cloe Jancis and Marlen Kärema.
Artist Talk – September 12 at 19:00
In conjunction with the exhibition's opening, several of the featured artists will be in Tallinn. On September 12th, there is a unique opportunity to attend a discussion with them, gaining insight into their thoughts and the stories behind their work.
The discussion will be hosted by the brilliant and sharp Aleksander Eeri Laupmaa. Topics like stereotypes, diversity, and sexual consent will be explored in this refreshing conversation that challenges social norms, with candid and unfiltered opinions from artists such as Angélica Dass, Evelyn Bencicova, Julia SH ja Cloe Jancis.
The discussion will be preceded by an audiovisual performance titled "Under the Skin," inspired by the "NUDE" exhibition (concept and direction by Oksana Tralla; choreography and performance by 3rd-year students of BFM's choreography program; music by 2nd-year students of BFM's integrated arts, music, and multimedia program, under the guidance of Taavi Tuisk).
* The ticket includes access to the exhibition before or after the discussion.
* The exhibition hall will be open from 17:00 to 22:00.
* The discussion will be held in English.
* The event will take place in the first-floor hall of Fotografiska.
For Members "Patron"
Owners of the Fotografiska "Patron" card will be treated to a glass of Gran Reserva Cava at the Nude exhibition. This bold, aperitif-style wine has a harmonious balance of vibrant acidity and rich, toasty flavors. After 30 months of aging on the lees, the wine has become both rich and delicately subtle—a fascinating experience, full of discovery, much like every story told by the human body.
