Anton Corbijn Inside Out - Trailer

When thinking about who could be considered the equivalent of a rock photographer in today’s world, Anton Corbijn immediately comes to mind.

He is a man whose black-and-white aesthetic has shaped the imagery of bands like Joy Division, Depeche Mode, U2, and many others, and who largely defined that monochrome, dark “rock-cool” style that countless bands and photographers have tried to emulate since.

In Corbijn’s work, light and shadow are central–and the same could be said about his life. Constantly surrounded by stars and often thrust into the spotlight alongside them, he still seeks hidden spaces where he can withdraw from the social noise and find a comfortable corner of his own.

For him, art is a way of coping with his solitude, and perhaps that is why his work feels so special: Corbijn’s own sense of isolation often shows through in his images. This film attempts to capture Corbijn’s life and art, shedding a little light on his shadowy creative world.
